In 1992, St. Mary of Egypt Orthodox Monastery, a woman’s monastery, in the heart of Cleveland, Ohio, started with a three dollar donation. The Monastery is under the omophorion (authority) of His Eminence, Metropolitan Maximos, of the Metropolis of Pittsburgh, Archdiocese of New York and the Ecumenical Patriarchate. With traditional Orthodox Monastic hospitality. St. Mary of Egypt has received visitors and guests from the U.S., Canada, Africa, & fourteen other countries world wide. In addition to helping the needy of our community, charity is offered to refugee families, and children with their families from around the world who come to Cleveland for medical needs. St. Mary of Egypt Orthodox Monastery has received Proclamations from the Mayors of Cleveland and the Governors of Ohio for our commitment to the community.
